NCP_WIDERA.NET Travel Grants

The European Office of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), as a partner in the European project NCP_WIDERA.NET (Grant Agreement No. 101055286), is launching a call for travel grant applications for staff affiliated with institutes, universities, research centers, or other research entities located in the Canary Islands.

The main objective is to encourage Canary Islands research organizations to participate in networking events organized abroad to boost their involvement in project proposals that align with any of the programs and calls under Pillar II “Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness” of Horizon Europe (EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation 2021-2027).

NCP_WIDERA.NET finances travel grants of applicants coming from Widening countries or outermost regions like Canary Islands with the aim to support their participation in proposals of Pillar II calls.

Interested applicants are invited to submit their application for the brokerage event which are eligible according to the list of eligible events in the NCP_WIDERA.NET website.

 

Rules and eligibility criteria

It is important that the event takes place abroad and requires the physical presence of participants. These events may be organized by the various National Contact Point (NCP) networks of Horizon Europe, the European Union, and/or other entities, networks, or initiatives whose objective is to create consortia interested in developing and submitting proposals to the programs.

Travel grants will only be awarded to participants in Brokerage Events related to any of the clusters within Pillar II “Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness” of Horizon Europe:

  • Health
  • Culture, Creativity, and Inclusive Society
  • Civil Security for Society
  • Digital World, Industry, and Space
  • Climate, Energy, and Mobility
  • Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment

 

Financing: Up to 1.000 euros will be reimbursed, based on actual costs, to the personnel (natural persons) of legal entities that received a positive evaluation of their application. The grant covers air ticket, hotel accommodation and transportation expenses.  Reimbursement will take place after the completion of the trip and following reception of all supporting documentation accompanied by an event report (see file on reimbursement rules).

*If travel costs exceeds the ceiling for reimbursement, the maximum reimbursement amount of 1.000 euros shall apply.

The deadline for submitting applications is at least 15 business days before the event. If the application is approved, funding will be received if the funds allocated to this call have not been previously exhausted..

Evaluation: The awarding of travel grants will follow a selection process based on the following criteria:

  • Meeting the minimum requirements for beneficiaries (see the attached call for proposals).
  • Meeting the minimum requirements for events (see the attached call for proposals).
  • The motivation for participating in the event is justified, and the expected impact aligns with the objectives of this call for proposals.
  • Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received, based on the date the Application Form is submitted. Grants will be awarded provided the funds allocated for this call for proposals have not been exhausted.
  • A maximum of two grants per organization will be awarded for the same event.
  • Interested organizations may submit their applications following the instructions in the call for applications published by FECYT.
